About

We are Sharon and David Yonenaka, the owner/operators of Fine Line Joinery. Here is a little about us:

Shortly after starting our family in 1999, we decided that we would prefer to raise our children in a small town, rural atmosphere rather than the fast pace of the Bay Area. So, in 2002 we packed up and moved from Oakland, CA to Grass Valley with our 2 year old daughter and newborn son in tow. Having been a successful general building contractor since 1990, I (David) then decided to focus more on my lifelong passion for fine woodworking and obtained my C-6  Cabinetry, Millwork and Finish Carpentry specialty license. That led to working on jobs performing finish carpentry projects, cabinet installations and eventually some custom cabinetry fabrication. The fabrication took me away from working on job sites to more time in the shop, well, our garage. With a baby and a toddler at home, it was a perfect time to be spending less of it away, and I recognized this as an opportunity to experience more of my kids’ growing up.

In 2013, Fine Line Joinery moved from a 2 car garage to a 4,500 square foot facility in the Loma Rica Drive Industrial Area, arguably Western Nevada County’s most important business hub, allowing the scope and variety our projects to expand. With the kids now in their teens, Sharon took over the office management duties while I focused on running shop production.

Warp speed into the mid 2020’s, our toddler and baby have grown into two of the finest young adults we know, and with whom we share adventures and friendship. Now, both residing nearby in one of California’s top ski towns, they are each busy pursuing their own dreams and careers. Sharon, after returning to school to obtain her Masters degree in Library and Information Science, is now pursuing another career, outside of the cabinet business.

What has remained constant over the last nearly 4 decades is our commitment to provide customers with the finest product, the best service and the highest value that we possibly can.
