Fine Line Joinery has provided my company with exceptional service and quality product for several years. Dave’s attention to detail, his exceptional shop drawings and a finish product that is on time and on budget make his cabinet shop my first choice on every job.

In the summer of 2008 we did a major home renovation. The renovation included our entry, living room, dining room and kitchen areas. These areas are all encompassed in a large great room.
There were three focal points to the renovation; a new fireplace and hearth, a custom entertainment center and a complete kitchen renovation. David Yonenaka, owner of Fine Line Joinery, was instrumental in completing two of these focal points.
David designed and built our custom entertainment center. The unit included storage for our stereo and TV equipment, and for media. It also housed our new 52” flat screen TV. David designed this unit with tambour doors, which allow us to keep the unit open or closed. The unit is a beautiful piece of furniture and exhibits outstanding craftsmanship.
Our kitchen renovation included a complete demolition and rebuild. David built custom kitchen cabinets for us that went from floor to ceiling. These were quite a challenge due to the fact that our ceiling is sloped and we have many angles due to huge beams on the ceiling along with many wall corners. He was the perfect man for the job!
David listened to what we wanted, heard what we said and was able to execute impeccably. He is intuitive, asks questions to fine tune the concept and provides insight on improving ideas. He was genuinely concerned about providing us with what we wanted. His work speaks for itself…you are welcome to come by and see for yourself.

Dave Yonenaka completed our bathroom remodel a few years ago. Dave did the entire job from the tear out to the tile, plumbing, electrical, cabinets and fixtures. He was most helpful to us in developing the design and advising us on the choices we needed to make during the process. Among our goals for this new bath was to have it accessible as well as using sustainable products, Dave was able to advise us in both of these areas.
Dave’s work was outstanding in every way. When he completed the work he asked us to develop a punch list of anything that needed to be reworked or fixed, there was nothing on our list. Everything was more than acceptable. We would use Dave again for any work that we needed to have done.

I am totally celebrating the absolute beauty and grand fineness of the harvest table!! I am so very happy with the investment in such an incredible piece of craftsmanship, beautiful wood and functional art. I will always love walking by it, sitting at it, enjoying it's presence on the property!

I’m extremely pleased with David Yonenaka’s work. I’ve commissioned several pieces of furniture from David, and I’ve always found him to be very professional and immensely talented. In 2015 David completed both a pantry and extensive wall unit for our open space great room. He helped us choose beautiful cherry materials and a style that blends with other elements of our home and suits our taste and needs. I have worked with David on several projects over the years. He is an astonishingly talented craftsman, extremely reliable, and an excellent listener. This combination of talents has led me to call on him again and again for fine woodworking projects. Most recently David built and installed a large bookcase in the living room of our 1925 Craftsman/Prairie style home in Berkeley. He did a beautiful job – it matches the original trim perfectly and is a wonderful addition to our living room. I give David my highest recommendation.

I have worked with David over the last 20 years on a variety of large and small scale residential building projects. David’s expertise and enthusiasm have benefited the projects in many ways. We are extremely pleased with Dave as the general contractor for our house in Nevada City. He is quality-oriented, and pays close attention to detail. As years pass since our house was built, we’ve encountered no problems with the house, but we do still encounter subtle details of his craftsmanship. We love this house.
Dave is also one-hundred-percent honest. It gave us great peace of mind to be able to completely trust our contractor.

Dear Dave,
About 15 years ago you remodeled my kitchen which was the original one in my 1911 craftsman house. It was very important that it be beautiful, efficient, well-built and comfortable. It was also very important that the costs not go over my budget. You built it exactly within the budget, in the 2 months you had estimated, in exact accord with the architect’s plans (they were great, too) and with a wonderful sensitivity to the materials.
You also designed and built two lovely redwood garden gates for my house which are quite beautiful as well.
It was a pleasure to work with you. You are patient, honest and sensitive as well as gifted at what you do.

David built bookcases on three walls of our 1924 home; he figured out how to work around period window and door mouldings. The result is a beautiful library. He is easy to work with – professional, courteous, good humored, and efficient. A master craftsman!

David designed and built a custom piece to display our vintage pin-ball machine and match the surrounding mission-style furniture. The table is a work of art, built in true craftsman style, with a simplicity of form and function. It is the centerpiece of our family room and is admired by all who visit.
I found David to be easy to work with and very helpful in collaborating on the design of our table.
We continue to enjoy our table everyday.

I couldn’t be more pleased with David’s cabinetry work which he created in bamboo for our straw bale cottage. His work is precise, artistic and a great value, considering the excellent craftsmanship and individual design.

David Yonenaka has fabricated many custom cabinets at many of my projects. He has shown very high standards in the quality of his cabinet craftsmanship. His shop drawings are very clear and easy for clients to read. I find that David understands the Architect’s design intent and illustrates it very well at the first go of his shop drawings. David is very inventive in his problem solving when faced with a construction dilemma or tricky site conditions. His knowledge of cabinet hardware and accessories is always helpful. I really appreciate the small tolerances he only allows for his cabinet to fit so well in the space. His cabinet works seamlessly with adjacent building elements. His work makes my job look good and effortless.

David was fun to work with and produced a fantastic set of kitchen cabinets. He anticipated issues that would arrive and helped find good solutions. He returned several time to make adjustments until everything fit just right. It's been a year since he finished, and there have been no problems at all.

David is the best in what he makes – His work is supreme and his cabinets are a work of art. I wish he stayed in our area so could have used him once again when we did a remodel of our kitchen –
